Common Questions

How many credit card changes did banks make in 2026?

We recorded 513 changes to 178 cards from 15 banks so far this year, including changes already announced for later in the year. 80% of them took something away from cardholders.

What counts as a cut?

A change that leaves the cardholder worse off: a higher fee, a lower reward rate, a benefit removed or made harder to get (for example lounge access that now needs a minimum spend). Launches, network changes and neutral rewordings are not counted as cuts.

Where does the data come from?

From CardAdvisor's India credit card facts dataset, checked against the bank's own notice wherever one is linked. Each change on our changes pages links to its source.
