Create a Group or Trip

Make a group for a trip, your flat or an office lunch, add members, and set trip dates.

A group keeps everyone’s shared costs together, works out who owes whom, and settles up in the fewest payments. In Split, tap +, choose In a Group or Trip, tap the group row and then New Group or Trip.

Name, category, dates and members

  • A Name, such as Manali Trip or Flat 302, and a Category, such as Travel (tap Change for another).
  • Dates (optional): From and To. A payment in these dates is offered to this group (below).
  • Members (you are always in it): add friends From Contacts or by Type Name.
  • Tap Create Group. The expense form opens for the new group.

The group’s page

At the top: You’ll get (or You owe), Spent in all, and the tabs Overview, Expenses and Members. Overview has Add Expense, Record, Share, Export PDF and Export CSV. A card tells you which members don’t know yet: Invite All sends them a short message through WhatsApp, SMS or email.

Members

Members shows each person, what they get back or owe, and whether they were invited, with Invite and Remove (someone in an expense stays). Add Member adds one more.

Payments during a trip

When your bank SMS shows a payment made between the trip’s dates, SkyloFin asks whether to add it to the trip, with the expense form filled in from the payment. You also get one notification while a payment is waiting.

Edit a group

The ⋮ menu at the top has Edit Group (name, category, dates, members), Close Group and Remove Group.

Next: add expenses to the group.
