HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card Review (2026): Fees, Rewards and Lounges

HDFC Regalia Gold is one of the most searched premium cards in India. It is also a card that changed twice in 2026, so many reviews online now quote rewards and lounge rules that no longer apply. Here is the card as it stands, from HDFC’s published terms.

What changed in 2026

  • 15 May 2026: base rewards cut. It used to be 4 points per ₹150 (about 1.33%). It is now 5 points per ₹200 (about 1.25%).
  • 1 July 2026: domestic lounges became spend-based. Before, 12 domestic visits a year came with no conditions. Now you get 3 visits a quarter, and only if you spent ₹60,000 on the card in the previous quarter.
  • 1 July 2026: Boarding Edge added. Upload your boarding pass on SmartBuy and pick two benefits each quarter, such as spa access, airport transfers or a hotel room upgrade.

If a review you read quotes “4 points per ₹150” or “unconditional lounge access”, it was written before these changes.

How much it earns: a worked example

Say you spend ₹40,000 a month on the card, including ₹5,000 at Myntra and Nykaa.

  • ₹35,000 on regular spends at 1.25% = about ₹437 in points value
  • ₹5,000 at partner brands at 6.25% = about ₹312
  • Total: about ₹750 a month, or roughly ₹9,000 a year

At ₹40,000 a month you spend ₹4.8 lakh a year, which crosses the ₹4 lakh waiver, so the ₹2,950 fee is not charged. You also clear the ₹60,000 a quarter needed for domestic lounge visits.

The partner-brand rate has a limit: the extra points stop at 5,000 a month across all four brands (about ₹2,500 in value). SmartBuy flight and hotel bookings also earn more, with their own monthly cap.

Points are worth about 50 paise

Each point is worth about ₹0.50 when redeemed the usual way, which is how we get 1.25% from 5 points per ₹200. Some redemptions give less. Points are not cash, so read how to work out a card’s real value before comparing with a cashback card.

Who it suits, and who it does not

Good fit

  • You earn ₹1.5 lakh a month or more and spend ₹35,000 or more a month on one card
  • You fly a few times a year and want Priority Pass for international lounges
  • You already shop at Myntra, Nykaa or Reliance Digital

Not a good fit

  • You spend less than ₹4 lakh a year: you will pay ₹2,950 every year
  • You mainly pay by UPI: it is a Visa card, so it cannot be used for UPI payments
  • You want simple cashback: a cashback card is easier to use well
