How we picked them: each card’s stated rate for that spend (its points valued as the bank states), with the bank’s monthly cap; for fuel, the rate at the card’s partner pumps. A tie goes to the lower fee. Fees include 18% GST. What a bank pays SkyloFin is never part of the order.

Which one is for you?
You shop online a lot at the big sites
Millennia. 5% at Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and seven more brands. One warning from HDFC’s terms: if you pay those brands through PayZapp or SmartBuy, it counts as 1%, not 5%.
You order food often
Swiggy BLCK HDFC Bank pays 10% on the Swiggy app, including Instamart and Dineout, up to ₹1,500 a month. If you order mostly from Zomato or use many apps, a cashback card with 10% on all food delivery may pay more (see best cashback credit cards).
You shop at Tata brands (Tata Neu, BigBasket, Croma, Tata CLiQ, 1mg)
Tata Neu Plus HDFC Bank. Low fee, waived at ₹1 lakh. It is on RuPay, so it can also be used for UPI payments.
You earn well and travel
Regalia Gold for Priority Pass and lounges at a mid-premium fee (read our Regalia Gold review). Diners Club Black Metal or Infinia if you spend ₹8 to ₹10 lakh a year and book travel through SmartBuy.
RuPay, Visa or Mastercard?
Only RuPay credit cards can be used for UPI payments. Of the cards above, Tata Neu Plus and PhonePe Ultimo are on RuPay; Millennia and Regalia Gold are on Visa; Swiggy BLCK is on Mastercard. If you pay by UPI often, that alone can decide it.
Before you apply
- Check the minimum income: HDFC may decline below it
- Pick the card whose waiver spend you will reach, so the fee is not charged
- Apply for one card at a time: several applications in a few weeks can lower your credit score
