What Is UPI?

Unified Payments Interface: instant bank payments using a UPI ID, phone number or QR code.

UPI links your bank account to an app and moves money in seconds, free for individuals. The usual limit is ₹1 lakh a transaction, higher for some payments such as tax and hospitals.

RuPay credit cards can be linked to UPI too, so card spends at UPI QR codes earn rewards on some cards.
