Paying the minimum amount due by the due date avoids a late payment fee and a missed payment on your credit report. It does not avoid interest: the whole unpaid balance is charged interest, usually 3% to 3.75% a month, and you lose the interest-free period on new spends until the balance is cleared.
Paying only the minimum is one of the most expensive ways to borrow. Pay the total amount due whenever you can.
On a ₹50,000 bill, paying ₹2,500 leaves ₹47,500 that keeps growing at about 42% a year.
